Pistachio Nuts Recall

For all you Pistachio lovers like me, here’s a bit of bad news. A California pistachio company has just recalled a million pounds of pistachios for fear that they may have been contaminated with salmonella.

The products to stay away from are Kraft Back to Nature Nantucket Blend trail mix and Setton Farms’ roasted pistachios. Don’t buy any pistachios from Kroger either.

So far the source seems to be Setton Farms, which is the second largest pistachio producer in the US.

First peanut butter, and now pistachios? Is this real or is this an international conspiracy to rid humans of our unhealthy penchant for junk food? Somebody investigate this!

Dandan Noodles

Dandan noodles are Chinese noodles from the Sichuan branch of Chinese cuisine. It is very spicy and oily, and it is made of noodles, vegetables, pork and scallions (plus chili).

The name “dandan” is a reference to the vendors that sell this type of food on the streets of China. Dandan noodles are peddler noodles.

Hello Panda Biscuits

Panda-printed chocolate-filled biscuits in bite size pieces. Yum and cute!

I like these kinds of biscuits. Biscuits and chocolate just make a perfect match, don’t you think?

I could eat like 5 packs of this in one sitting. Hahaha.

French Fries

Junk Food can’t get any junkier than french fries.

It’s so bad for you. It’s soaked with oil. It’s full of fat, bad cholesterol and tons of carbs. It’s junk. Pure junk.

But damn if it didn’t taste so good.

  

  

I really cannot stop eating french fries once I start. It’s addictive. You get a full bowl, start watching TV, just munch and munch and munch and not even halfway through the show you’re done with the fries! Where’d it all go??? And you still want some more.

Sigh.

My boyfriend knows one person who loves french fries but hates the calories. She buys french fries, wraps them with tissue paper and wrings the oil off. Yeah. Hahaha. Poor frenchies. Then she eats the mutilated dry fries. LOL.

Peach Mango Pie

Deliciously crispy on the outside…

Sumptiously soft and juicy on the inside…

  

I love my mom’s apple pie the best of all, but she’s far far away from me (and I can’t bake or cook to save my life) so I have to depend on fast food restaurants to satisfy my pie fix.

I love this peach mango pie. It’s deep fried in oil which makes for a slightly salty, very crunchy and crispy wrapper. And when you bite into it, the warm, sweet peach mango filling just bursts forth and just satisfies all your inner cravings.

My only gripe is it’s kinda small. So when I buy it, I have to buy two of each! Hahaha.

Cake and Capuccino

Mmmmm…. Does this picture look good or what?

I’m not big on cakes, but I sure enjoyed this one. Ordered this sponge cake with mixed berries and a cookie on top. I forgot now what it was named, but it was yummy as hell.

The berries were fresh and succulent. The cake was light and fluffy, and full of cream, mmmm!

The coffee was nice too. Creamy, not too sweet, not too hot. But let’s take a closer look at our main star here.

Fake Drumstick

Okay, so this once doesn’t exactly count as heavenly. But it’s cute! Haha.

I went to a nearby supermarket and grabbed me some random cute junk food items.

This one’s called Giant Caplico and looks like drumstick ice cream, from the outside packaging to the actual snack.

It comes in two flavors, chocolate (red) and cookies and cream (blue). It’s manufactured in Thailand, and imported by Japan and the Philippines.

I tried the cookies and cream one. The fake sugar cone is actually made of thin waffle and the fake ice cream is made up of some soft and crumbly sugary substance.

It’s kind of sickly sweet hahaha. I didn’t enjoy it all that much. But I liked the concept, if that counts for anything haha.

No nutritional breakdown included in the package (well actually it was in Thai so I can’t translate haha). But I think it’s safe to assume it possesses no nutritional value whatsoever hehe!

Inneresting though…

I hope the next random item in my grocery bag tastes better! Stay tuned…
